Hair Growing from eyeball
Also known as a Dermoid Cyst, these are congenital growths usually found at the outer corners of the eyes. This is most often seen in German Shepherds but is not a common problem.
These cysts contain hair that often appears to be growing out of the surface of the eye.
Diagnosis is made by physical examination.
The dermoid is not a malignant tumor, but it should be removed due to the irritating effect of the hair.
There is currently no known preventative for this condition.
Please contact your veterinarian if you suspect your pet may have this condition.
